Get Ready by The Temptations

Produced by Smokey Robinson in 1966, "Get Ready" was an answer to the latest dance craze, "The Duck". Eddie Kendricks sings lead on the song, with rhythm provided by Motown drummer Benny Benjamin. Melvin Franklin sings the pre-chorus "Fe, fi, fo, fum... Look out baby 'cause here I come..." The song made it to number one on the U.S. R&B singles chart, while peaking at number twenty-nine on the pop charts.

Under the terms of the agreement and based on the closing price of Disney stock on October 26, 2012, the transaction value is $4.05 billion, with Disney paying approximately half of the consideration in cash and issuing approximately 40 million shares at closing. Alex Hope

Two waiters at the PlayGround nightclub at Liverpool’s Hilton were needed to carry in the giant 30-litre bottle of Armand de Brignac Midas champagne. For his party, 23-year-old financier Alex Hope also ordered 40 single bottles of Ace of Spade champagne, along with £4,000 worth of Grey Goose vodka, which he handed them out to women there last night. The total bill came to £203,948. ($326,459 USD)

Nightclub boss George Panayiotou ordered the DJ to play The Dawn of Man, the iconic anthem to the film 2001: A Space Odyssey, as the huge bottle was carried through. He was there with a few friends on a private table, but after the big bottle came in they were mobbed by about 60 gorgeous girls. Mr. Hope is well known in the financial industry as a high flyer, already hugely successful after just three years in the business and tipped by many to become one of the biggest traders in London.

One member of the hotel staff admitted, “It caused a bit of a stir. We have some of the best champagnes in the world, but nothing like that.

RIP Vile Rat tributes

A US state department official was killed and at least one other American was wounded when militiamen stormed the US consulate in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi.

We knew that Vile Rat was in Benghazi; he told us. He commented on how they use guns to celebrate weddings and how there was a constant susurrus of weaponry in the background. He was in situ to provide IT services for the consulate, which meant he was on the net all the time, hanging out with us on Jabber as usual and talking about internet spaceship games.

La Lluvia

Early
in the morning
a
rich tapestry
dreams like the ocean
Sometimes giant mountains of thought
swelling past
and
sometimes
just a roiling chop of mortal madness
as if the Gods turned on a million washing machines
tearing at the edges of my consciousness

I wake
My lion looks into the black and roars at the abyss
Then turns to the east to greet the Sun

You said
I was just what you needed
and thanked me
for listening and caring about you
for treating you like a human being
at
the moment
My only thought how odd
how could I do anything else

It was only later
when the shock wore off
And I stumbled into those caught by the glow
fleeced of my labor
I was
a broken man creature
el cazador trofeo de los hombres
walking out of a volcano
my heart and lungs and skin burned away
Seven chains and ten grenades
only cracked magma and ash remain
a soul
of molten iron
spinning with the rotation of the earth

What
is
it
meatbags making meat sounds in the scorched air
I turn and gaze upon them
oh dear
oh my
Hide your eyes sister

For we are golems of fire and brimstone
handlers of Cerberus and emissaries of Hades
and
it's
going to go very badly
for the surrounding populace
Like
when they came
for the fuerzas revolucionarias de colombianos
or the donghu horsemen upon cyrillic steppes
death squads would empty whole villages
into
mass graves
Young boys bleeding into the grass playing soldiers
trying to scoop their guts back in
screaming for their mothers

Easy kid
breathe
You are back in the World now
this one doesn't know
You have to explain slowly and gently
Remember
what it was like before La Lluvia

Right

Imagine
the most beautiful thing
Your passion
what makes you feel alive and singing
at fourteen thousand feet
Sun bursting upon powdered sugar peaks
Blue sky
crystal air snow and pine trees
surfing the mountain
We are
forces of nature in harmony
in excelsis deo

When you healed me
so
beautiful
no words exist for this
Our wetness joining us as one
A cold morning but warm beating hearts
pushing out the pain and madness of the World
My only
hope
you might be born to fit my crevices
kissing your neck
and behind your ears
Feel the electric tingles rippling
singing shoop dee whoop
oh baby can i count the ways
you take me
bringing me
calm relax
I growl
and moan
into
you

I look back and thunder and wonder
If you are real
I'm just gonna write
til you say stop
cause if we are gonna be free
this is
all
we
got

America's Cup AC45 Trials

The first of two new designs for the 34th America’s Cup, the AC45 Catamaran made its debut in Auckland on January 17, hitting speeds in excess of 20 knots. The AC45 will be used throughout 2011 and 2012 in the America’s Cup World Series events.

A high-tech, 45-foot long grand prix race boat, the AC45 is powered by a sail that towers over 20 meters above the deck and has already demonstrated excellent performance in winds from 5 to 30 knots in early sea trials. The AC45 is meant to give sailors and shore crews experience handling this sort of high-tech cat, and to permit multihull racing to begin this year. Teams may modify the rigs and appendages for testing, though not the hulls. During racing, however, the AC45's must remain in their one-design configuration.

Ghost In The Shell SAC OST

Motoko: Are you still using that revolver? You should stop worrying about the automatics jamming up.

Tosuga: I like my Matever.

Motoko: Well, effective stopping power is more important than your preference in guns. Since it's my ass on the line out there, use the Zastaber.

Tosuga: Yes, Major. There's something I've wanted to ask ever since I started. Why did you transfer a guy like me from the police force?

Motoko: Because we need a guy like you.

Tosuga: Huh?

Motoko: Number one, you're an honest cop. Number two, you've never stepped out of line. Three, you're a family man. And, except for the slight brain augmentation, your body is almost completely human. If we all reacted the same way, we'd be predictable. And there's always more than one way to view a situation. What's true for the group is also true for the individual. It's simple. Overspecialize and you breed in weakness. It's slow death.

The opening theme for Stand Alone Complex is "Inner Universe", performed by Origa, with lyrics written by Origa and Shanti Snyder in Russian, English and Latin.

Ol'ga Vital'evna Yakovleva (Ольга Витальевна Яковлева, born October 12, 1970 in Коченево, Russia), better known as Origa, is a Russian singer who works mostly in Japan. She gained popularity outside of Japan with the release of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex soundtracks.

These were written by long-time friend and composer Yoko Kanno, who composed the music for all of the opening and closing themes for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, its second season, film sequel and OVAs.

Yoko Kanno (菅野 よう子, born March 19, 1964 in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan) is a composer, arranger and musician best known for her work on the soundtracks for many games, anime films, TV series, live-action movies, and advertisements. HELLS FOOKIN YEAH RIDLEY SCOTT MOFOS!!!!

Prometheus is an upcoming science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof. The film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Charlize Theron. The plot follows the crew of the spaceship Prometheus in the year 2085, as they explore an advanced alien civilization in search of the origins of humanity.

Conceived as a prequel to Scott's 1979 science fiction horror film Alien, rewrites of Spaihts' script by Lindelof developed a separate story that precedes the events of Alien, but which is not directly connected to the films in the Alien franchise. According to Scott, though the film shares "strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak", and takes place in the same universe, Prometheus will explore its own mythology and ideas. Principal photography began in March 2011, with filming taking place in England, Iceland, and Spain. Prometheus is scheduled for release between May 30 and June 8, 2012 in various territories through 20th Century Fox.

SOPA

"The most functional way of putting it is that the ESA were the ones expecting you to have their backs when California tried to roll out its violent videogame law, and you did. That’s really as instructive as I can be; the support they’re looking for is unidirectional. It goes from you to them." - Tycho

"Just some stats... ... here are some reasons why TPB is down sometimes - and how long it usually takes to fix:
Tiamo gets *very* drunk and then something crashes: 4 days
Anakata gets a really bad cold and no one is around: 7 days
The US and Swedish gov. forces the police to steal our servers: 3 days
... yawn." - TPB

Or you can join the Church of the Madonna Orgasm.

These six companies produce 90% of what Americans read, watch and listen to as of 2011. The numbers are how much each makes in a year:
  • Viacom; $14.9 billion
  • CBS Corporation: $14.1 billion
  • News Corp: $33.4 billion
  • Time Warner: $26.9 billion
  • GE: $150.2 billion
  • Disney: $40.9 billion
I have to assume that anyone who spends millions asking for something knows full well what they are asking for and wants it badly.

American Kills by Sebastian Errazuriz

"When I first found the overall statistics summed the 304 suicides by US soldiers during 2009, I was shocked. I tried to find a number to compare that statistic. To my surprise the suicide statistic doubled the total of 149 US soldiers that had died in the Iraq war during 2009 and equaled the number of soldiers killed in Afghanistan.' - Sebastian
