No matter how many jobs are created, if business owners don’t respect workers’ time and health, this situation will never end — things will only get worse.
@MaraudingMagpie
Fantastic history lesson 🔥
@sevenproxies4255
Erm, "strict labour laws" usually mean that workers are protected from employers. Being forced to work 80 hour work weeks is NOT an example of "strict labour laws" but rather the complete lack of them.

Company dorm, that says it all. Basically we really haven’t advanced beyond the feudal system have we? As a serf we work until we die. Pretty soon, they’ll make Soylent Green out of the “retired”. RIP to all of the ones lost.
@UbME2889
Let’s drop the fantasy that ANY worker in South Korea is somehow gaming the system just because it’s hard to get fired. In reality, most Korean employers will grind their employees down to the bone long before those workers even figure out how to seek help. And even then, the Ministry of Labor usually won’t step in unless the person has already been fired. That’s not protection, that’s abandonment dressed up in policy.
@Vendrix86
Korea and Japan are insane. Overwork is normal and expected. People at the top all across the board need to be replaced or this will never improve.
@danielgareth4005
Amazing! More deep dives in the future please! Much better than asking random girls if they like white guys lol
@BobHancock
An absolutely superb report. This new in depth format has brought the channel to a different level. I eagerly look forward to you next subject.
@RU-xd3ym
Japan’s the same. We East Asians really need to change the way we work
@mslee7349

On the surface, South Korea looks like one of the richest and most glamorous countries in the world — dominating global culture with K-pop, K-dramas, and K-beauty. But behind that image lies a labor system so extreme that it’s reshaping the country’s entire economy and job market for ordinary citizens, small businesses, and startups. In this deep dive, ASIAN BOSS breaks down how South Korea ended up here and what this means for the country’s future.
